It’s companies like these that both are profitable, yet they still influence and impact the lives of others not online here in America but also in countries around the world. For those of you who have never heard of TOM’s shoes, every time a pair of TOMs shoes is purchased, they donate a pair of shoes to those who are in need ranging from all around the globe. If that isn’t a great motto, than I don’t know what is.
TOM’s was started by a gentlemen by the name of Blake Mycoskie, an entrepreneur from Arlington, Texas. Blake first visited the country Argentina when competing in the famous television show, The Amazing Race, back in 2001. After loving it so much, he revisited it in 2006 for own personal leisure. This is where he noticed that everyone wore a style of shoe know as the “alpargata”; a simple canvas shoe that even he began to wear. This classic shoe that many Argentinian farmers have been wearing for decades is what birthed the idea of TOM’s and their classic canvas shoe.
TOM’s continues to contribute to those who are less fortunate by incorporating new business practices and venturing out to eyeglasses and even coffee. Given those ventures, along comes extra jobs for others in countries throughout the world.
